The weekend has made a significant difference in me and in my marriage. I am actually surprised at how excited I feel for the future and stronger in myself to affect positive change in my life and in my family. I think finally being around people (ie. the coaches) who have come out of an affair stronger and healthier was a big inspiration. Not everyone chooses to heal their marriage, not everyone is given that choice to make in the first place, and sometimes staying in the marriage isn't the right choice, because the unfaithful spouse is not willing to do the necessary work on themselves. Coach Gayle, who was divorced after 35 years of marriage and walked that journey of healing alone shares how she did it. Take Your Life Back - a life changing experience for me.
My life was being totally consumed by my husband's affair. TYLB enabled me to see beyond the affair, and to focus on ME. It was the best thing I have ever done for myself.
There were 19 women at the seminar who had all experienced the pain of an affair by their partner. These were women who could look into my eyes and know what I was feeling, without me saying a word.
The seminar was not about the affair... although of course it was talked about alot. There were a number of very helpful topics and 'intense' sessions; I learned so much about myself. I don't want to say too much about what happened there because it would take away from the experience of anyone who plans to attend.
I didn't want to go! My husband encouraged me. Even a couple of days before the seminar I was changing my mind. I spoke to Anne at Beyond Affairs and she was very comforting and said... 'no matter what... just get yourself there' and I did. I didn't want to go, and then on the last day I didn't want to leave. I left there feeling I could conquer the world and felt so STRONG!
I didn't want to spend the money either... but I have to say it was worth every penny! And you know what, for what we've been put through - we deserve it! Traveling from Alberta Canada to Dallas TX was a long trek but so worth it. My husband saw a big change in me. I don't know if it was all 'clearer' for me... but I knew I had the strength to get through whatever lay ahead.
I tend to be very critical of retreats and seminars and I was so pleased with everything, particularly how well it was organized. Not one person had a single complaint about the weekend.
I still keep touch with all the gals I met... and we are already planning a reunion. I know we'll be friends for a lifetime. So.... 'just get yourself there'. You won't regret it.
